UI Family and Consumer Sciences Guatemala Service Trip

The UI Family and Consumer Sciences Guatemala Service Trip is a learning experience organized by the non-profit organization Hearts in Motion (HIM) and Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) faculty at the University of Idaho.  Students will take a late eight-week spring course (1 credit) to learn about the history, culture, and current issues facing Guatemala citizens and a summer course (1 credit) serving community members in Guatemala for 10 days.  Students will provide workshops and support using skills they learn in FCS fields including early childhood development, early childhood education, human development and family studies, food and nutrition, apparel/textiles/design, and FCS teacher education.  Students will also take part in making, collecting, and distributing reusable menstrual pads, diapers, and supplies to Guatemalans.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

Yes! All donations to our projects are tax-deductible contributions to the University of Idaho Foundation. After making a donation, you will receive an e-receipt.

Are contributions returned if a campaign does not reach its stated fundraising goal?

No, all funds raised will be applied to the stated fundraising purpose. If a project becomes impractical or impossible to implement, funds will be used in the spirit of the original purpose of the project.
