What is TRIO?
TRiO is an educational opportunity for economically disadvantaged and disabled Americans, and their programs help students overcome class, social, and cultural barriers to attending college.
Why We're Fundraising
Emergency and Support Services
We're raising funds to provide emergency and support services that allow our TRIO scholars to continue their educations. For scholars without sufficient financial means or family support, this funding can mean the difference between staying in college and dropping out. Emergency housing during the breaks, emergency transportation, and sufficient winter clothing are all needs for University of Idaho TRIO scholars.
The College Experience
This funding also allows for alternative programming to be developed that give TRIO scholars and their families access to the traditional college experience. Admission fees for events like Mom's and Dad's weekends exclude low-income scholars and their families. This fund helps to either offset the cost of admittance or to provide alternative programming that does not require a fee.
