Jazz in the Schools

The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival is one of the largest and oldest educational jazz festivals in the world. There are over 400 student performances, a dozen world-class jazz artists, and nearly 100 workshops, clinics and special exhibits. Since the 1960s, the festival has honored jazz's music, history and dance, and of course, one of its most honored artists: Lionel Hampton.

Over the years, thousands of students have attended the festival. The festival leaves a lasting impression on all those that participate and attend, spreading the joy of jazz throughout the region.

Jazz in the Schools is an outreach program through the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, bringing the festival experience into the classroom. The goal is to get students across the Northwest excited about all types of music, but specifically jazz. We provide jazz education materials, activities and a presentation with master musicians and educators.

With your support, we can continue spreading the joy of jazz, keeping Lionel Hampton's tradition alive and swinging.
