Our Crowdfunding Groups
The Women in Science Society (WSS) is a national 501(c)(3) organization who's goal is to provide undergraduate women studying the sciences opportunities to attend social and professional events, with the intent of facilitating academic and professional success while fostering an environment of motivation and mutual support.
Women have historically been (and currently are) vastly underrepresented in the sciences. When 48% of those in the workforce are female, it does not make any sense that women make up only 24% of people in STEM jobs. The presence of our club helps to encourage women pursuing a degree in STEM and create a support system to help them with any struggles that come up during their studies. This ranges from needing study help with a difficult class (WSS Study Nights), to receiving guidance in career/school planning (Peer/Mentor Program), to getting help with prejudice and biases in STEM (Seminars, Workshops, & Panels). We also strive to provide members with funding to attend various conferences.
Your sponsorship or any other assistance would be much appreciated in helping us to achieve our club’s goals. It should be noted that due to the pandemic there have been adjustments made in the club's usual events in order to be flexible with state regulations and requirements. This year in particular has impacted individuals everywhere; therefore, our executive board waived club dues for members. However, the typical yearly national dues still need to be covered, on top having just depleted our funding last year to pay off our entry dues to the national organization.
