University of Idaho's Soil Stewards Student Farm is an essential representation of agriculture and farming in the Moscow community. The Farm, run by students and advisors, practices organic farming and sustainable practices to produce a wide variety of crops. Produce from the Soil Stewards Farm is grown for the community by the community and is even used in Vandal dining services!
We are asking for your support to bring a refrigeration unit to the Soil Stewards Student Farm to enable better produce storage. Your donations will allow us to purchase materials to build a produce cooler using CoolBot technology!
We are asking everyone who values sustainable farming and agriculture to help support our campaign so that students and community members alike may benefit from a more efficient ASUI-recognized student farm.
In addition to the hardware needed to make this project successful, we need to be able to hook up the entire system! For only $200 we can have the electrical system, including lightening, up and running! We just need 20 people to give $10!
The CoolBot is a device which uses multiple sensors and a programmed micro-controller, which when attached to a standard off-the-shelf air conditioner, functionally replicates a more expensive conventional walk-in cooling system. We want to use CoolBot technology as an alternative to a more costly ready to use cooler system. The CoolBot is $400, we only need 16 people to donate $25 in order to achieve our goal!
In order for the CoolBot technology to work, we need an air conditioning unit. We plan to purchase a 15K BTU unit to be sure our system works efficiently. If only 11 people donate $50, we will reach our goal of $550! Thank you for your contribution!
We are building our own cooler to significantly cut down on costs. We need to purchase lumber, insulation, paneling and a door. This portion of the project will be the most costly, we need a total of $2100 for to build the cooler. If 21 only people give $100, we will make our goal!
