Our Project:
The Department of Theatre Arts produces a 6-show season each academic year. Helping to design and build the sets for these productions provides an invaluable education for both undergraduate and graduate students in our department, but it’s a labor-intensive operation. Over the course of a typical season, students and faculty in our scene shop cut thousands of pieces of lumber according to various design specifications to construct the scenery. Our current table saw has simply come to the end of its useful life, and we just don’t have the money in the budget to replace it. That’s why we’re turning to our fans, our audience – the people we’re ultimately creating great theatre for – to help us reach our fundraising goals.
What will the funding do?
We plan to use the money to purchase a new professional grade saw stop (or table saw) which will be far more efficient, and considerably safer, than our old saw.
The Impact:
A new, safer saw for the Hartung Theater scene shop, will allow us to continue providing our students and the general public with high-quality, thought-provoking theatrical entertainment, that improves the quality of life for everyone on the Palouse, and provides an essential educational experience for our Vandal theatre artists, who will go off to become the next generation of theatre artist … continuing our rich legacy.

Donors who claim this perk and give at the $500 level will receive a framed poster from a show of your choice signed by the cast and crew. Donor will also receive recognition in the theatre program and on the lobby flatscreen.
Donors who claim this perk and give at the $1000 level will receive a VIP dinner (you and a guest) with the Department of Theatre Arts Chair, director and select members of the team from a show of your choice. Donor will also receive recognition in the theatre program and on the lobby flatscreen.
