Dear Friends of the Women’s Center, 

Our deepest thanks for donating to our 50^th anniversary fundraising campaign! 148 individual donors helped us raise $18,185 towards the cost of a spectacular year-long celebration honoring the founding of the University of Idaho Women’s Center in Fall 1972. Thanks to your generosity and that of many other individuals, organizations, offices, departments, and academic colleges, we raised almost $45,000 to support our anniversary year and hosted 16 separate events between August 2022 and April 2023. Highlights include a campus visit by New York Times best-selling author and activist, Ijeoma Oluo; collaboration on the creation of a specially curated beer, DismantALE the Patriarchy, with Micropolis Brewing Co.; hosting an online silent auction of rare feminist collectibles, including the very first issues of Ms. Magazine signed by Gloria Steinem, a tennis ball signed by Billie Jean King, and more; and hosting a webinar series featuring dozens of past users of the center, student and professional staff, and university administrators, including all of the surviving past directors of the Women’s Center and all of the surviving signers of the Conciliation Agreement. It’s been a fantastic year, and we have you to thank in large part for that!

We will shortly be sending out a summary report of all of the year’s activities. Now that the celebrations are complete, we are closing down this online ScaleFunder campaign. Did you know?

• The University of Idaho Women's Center is one of the oldest campus-based women's centers in the nation.
• Gloria Steinem once said our women's center was "one of the most important ones in the nation."
• At first, the Center had no staff and was run entirely by volunteers.
• In 1986, while the state of Idaho was one of 21 states and territories which chose not to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the U of I Women's Center provided videos, songs, speakers, and a party to celebrate the national holiday.
