Dear HEC Supporters,
In case you haven't heard, the Humanitarian Engineering Corps has a couple of exciting new things coming up this year and we wanted to keep you guys in the loop.
First of all, we are currently in the process of beginning a new project in the community of Challcha, Bolivia! Challcha is a rural community located a few hours outside of Bolivia's capital city, Sucre. From what we know so far, the government of Bolivia at one point drilled a well near Challcha, however they installed little to no additional infrastructure so the community still lacks easy access to clean water. We are very excited for this new opportunity and can't wait to start learning more on our initial surveying trip this summer!
Second, we just finished up the first week of our U&I Give campaign to raise funds for the Challcha project and have two more weeks to reach our goal of $10,000. This is a super easy way to contribute to HEC and your help really makes what we do possible! If you can't donate, but would still like to help us get to Bolivia, please share our campaign with your friends. To access our 2020 U&I Give campaign, just click the link below:

Finally, our annual Spring Bash is coming up on Friday, April 24th at the 1912 Center! There will be live music, a silent auction, and food and drink catered by Maialina's and Hunga Dunga. This event is always a great time, so if you're in town we hope to see you there! More details on tickets will be posted on the UI-HEC Facebook page soon.
Thank you all so much for supporting UI-HEC and we hope you have a great spring!

Your donations from the Spring 2019 U&I Give campaign helped us complete the final stage in our six year project in providing clean water for the community of Carani, Bolivia! This summer we added 16 new tapstands, one spring box, and two new pipelines to the system ensuring easy access to clean water for 16 additional families. We also helped educate five community members in system maintenance and alteration and establish a community water council, leaving Carani with a sustainable, self-sufficient water system that will adapt to the community’s future needs and endure over the years. From the bottom of our hearts the members of HEC and the people of Carani thank you for making this possible.
