Hello friends and donors!
I’d like to introduce myself and update you all about what’s going on with this year’s festival. My name is Neil Davidson, a first-year MFA candidate in Fiction, and I’m one of the three graduate student organizers of the upcoming Palouse Literary Festival, working alongside Courtney Lucas (MFA, Fiction) and Mikelyn Rochford (MA, Literature).
We have already gotten some good work going! We’ve applied for an Amazon Literary Partnership grant and are approved to work once more with U&I Gives for another fundraising campaign. Keep an eye out for more news about this year’s campaign around February 18th.
We’re excited about moving forward!
Thanks to many of you, last year we were able to bring in great talent from all over the Pacific Northwest. I’ve attached photos here of our wonderful readers. Both alums of the University of Idaho, Debra Gwartney and CMarie Fuhrman did a Q&A at Book People. BookPeople also hosted Portland-based novelist and short story writer, Leni Zumas. We hosted poets John Sibley Williams and Sam Roxas-Chua, pictured here posing with a portion of the visual arts exhibit we worked with the Prichard Gallery to set up.
We hope to do even more this coming year. We love the writers of the Palouse and Pacific Northwest and our hope is to raise enough to once again bring writers from across the region, as well as some new folks we don’t see out this way very often. Thank you so much for everything you’ve given to our festival, championing worthwhile art here on the Palouse!
Thanks to the astonishing support of our community, near and far, we've raised $2,010 for the Palouse Literary Festival! You've all helped make this first year's stellar lineup a reality. See you in October.
We are ecstatic to announce the Palouse Literary Festival's fourth writer: John Sibley Williams. John Sibley Williams is the author of three books of poetry: "Disinheritance," "Controlled Hallucinations," and, most recently, "As One Fire Consumes Another," winner of the 2018 Orison Poetry Prize. John's poetry will edge under your skin and challenge preconceived notions about poetry, human bodies, and history. We are lucky to add him to the lineup.

And, remember, donations are open until Wednesday night!
A generous donor contributed a large sum in loving memory of Pam and Jerry Ortman, who passed away 15 years ago. They are missed.
We are happy to extend a heartfelt 'thank you' to Elizabeth Sloan, one of the gracious donors who have raised over $1800 for the Palouse Literary Festival.
Tune in later today for the announcement of the fourth writer and, remember, donations are open until Wednesday.
We trust you'll be as exhilarated as we are that the Palouse Literary Festival's third writer is the brilliant Debra Gwartney. She is the author of "Live Through This: A Mother's Memoir of Runaway Daughters and Reclaimed Love." We can't wait to welcome Debra Gwartney to the Palouse.

Tune in tomorrow for the announcement of the Palouse Literary Festival's third writer (hint: they represent a third genre).
We are beyond excited to announce Leni Zumas as the Palouse Literary Festival's second writer. Her acclaimed novel, "Red Clocks", follows five women in a near-future where 'abortion is once again illegal and the Personhood Amendment grants rights of life, liberty, and property to every embryo.'
'Red Clocks' has never been more relevant than it is now. We are proud and grateful to be able to feature Leni Zumas's visionary voice at the festival in October.

We are thrilled to announce the first writer in the Palouse Literary Festival lineup: Sam Roxas-Chua. Sam Roxas-Chua is an acclaimed poet, author of "Saying Your Name Three Times Underwater". In addition to his poetry, Sam is also a striking visual artist. The festival will feature a display of Sam's work at the Prichard Art Gallery.
